An Overview of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class


The Mercedes-Benz G-Class is a four-door car on which you will find a wide variety of features and amenities. At the moment, this model is sold only in Europe and as such it’s unlikely that it will be introduced to North America any time soon. The design of the car is one of its biggest selling points. The G Class has been around for more than 40 years, making it one of the most recognizable vehicles in the world. This SUV has been known to be an off-roader, but there are also people who drive it as a family car or even as a daily driver.





The G Class is powered by an 8.0-liter V12 engine that develops 645 horsepower (493 kW) at 7400 rpm and 429 lb.-ft. (557 Nm)  of torque at 4800 rpm. This high performance engine allows this vehicle to reach a top speed of 143 mph (230 km/h), while driving on rough terrain can be done effortlessly thanks to its 4WD system with all-wheel drive – 3 speeds electronically controlled, 5 speeds manually controlled and 6 speeds with automatic transfer case control (ATC).


The exterior design of the Mercedes G Class is very different from other SUV’s on the market due to its unique body design, which has been designed by Kia Motors Korea based on an old military vehicle called "HWK".

The G class has a long history in the SUV segment. The first generation of the G class was introduced back in the year 1991. The second generation of the G class was launched back in the year 2001 and this generation of the G class was powered by a 4.3-litre V8 engine which produced 265 PS of power and 355 Nm of torque. The third generation of the G class was launched back in the year 2012 and this G class was powered by a 5.5-litre V8 engine which produced 315 PS of power and 521 Nm of torque. The G class will continue to be produced in the upcoming years and the most likely candidates for this are the Mercedes GLE, GLE Coupe, GLE Cabrio, GLE Cab, GLE Coupe, GLA, and GLA Cabrio.
